During Christmas season, all couples are busy planning for a romantic date, exchanging gifts, while single people are looking for their potential partners to celebrate with.
A recent survey conducted by the popular social app
weTouch in Malaysia found that 85% of weTouch’s male users prefer women with a natural look, whereas only 10% Malaysian guys are fond of heavy makeup, while other 5% said it depends on the circumstances, according to PRNewswire.
Looking at how men select women while swiping through various weTouch app profiles, data shows that women who wear light makeup or without any makeup receive 80% more likes than women who apply heavy makeup. On the other hand, 70% female users like to apply light to medium makeup.
This shows that applying makeup does help women to be liked, provided it is done in the right way, as 85% of Malaysian guys are adopting the “less is more” attitude.
When it comes to which cosmetic products are preferred over others, 68% of female users believe that bright red shaded lipstick makes them look more appealing and classy, but surprisingly, bright red shaded lipstick is a big “NO!” for Malaysian guys unless they are attending a special event. Else, the woman may seem to be “trying too hard”.
In addition, 82% of female users apply eye makeup products, such as eyeliner, eyeshadow, and mascara, 70% among them prefer neutraleyeshadows. A whopping 75% of men like women who apply simple eyemakeup. It is also reflected in the weTouch data that women who applynude eyeshadow shades and thin eyeliner in their profile pictures receive70% more first messages than those with smoky eyes.
Hairstyle is one of the most important parts of a woman‘s appearance. 70% of Malaysian men prefer long hair over short hair women, and 60% of weTouch users reported to like women with natural hair over dyed. It highlights that Malaysian guys prefer natural beauty, as women with natural hair and minimal makeup seem friendly, easy-going and approachable.
